Radiation :(

This very hectic week started Monday morning at 5:30 am at the hospital.  Roy had  his first radiation treatment.  Without going into too much detail, I'll just say that because of a new computer program that IHC is using, the doctors had a hard time getting the pain medication ordered, and when Roy woke up from the surgical part of his procedure (inserting the tubes), he was in excruciating pain.  He finally was given some drugs that helped him with the pain, and he was taken into a room for the radiation treatment.  It took 3 x longer than they had led us to expect, and when they were finally finished, they told Roy to take two deep breaths, and then they took hold of all 20 or so tubes and pulled them out--all at once.  It was miserable for him.  They weren't careful when they ripped the catheter out, either.  We were at the hospital from 5:30 to around 2:30 or 3 in the afternoon.  It was a long day!
Even though Monday was rough, he went to work on Tuesday, and all the rest of the week as well.  He did come home to rest on a few of the afternoons, but he worked hard at work and on our yard all week.  I can see in his eyes that he's been through it, though.
We saw a lot of our grand kids this week.  All our children that live close by were really thoughtful and helpful, knowing that their dad needed the help.  We had dinner from Adrienne, Sara, and Jieun, throughout the week, and Nick, Dan and AJ helped on the yard.  The kids love it when their parents help because they get to come over and play.  Below are pictures of the yard and the helpers.

Gunnar.  The lighting was a little off.

These guys helped by staying out of the way :)

Finn helped by making sure this garden box didn't get
too full!

Effie helped, too, by smiling and being sweet.
We also received some pictures of Max and Mav from the week--they had a great break at the beach.

This looks a little scary to grandma

I had the opportunity to help Adrienne out when she went to a meeting during the week.  We stopped at the grocery store for a doughnut.  Interestingly, they were super good for grandma at the grocery store.  The stories Adrienne tells me makes me think that they aren't always so good for their mom.

Roy ran up to Farmington one evening to watch a little bit of Ollie's baseball game before we had to be somewhere else.

We would have gotten to the car in time for them to make a mess, but I'd forgotton that I'd put other things in the cart besides doughnuts.  I had to go back and pay for them, which turned out to be fortunate because they were done with their doughnuts by the time we got to the car.

I got some really cute pictures from Sara this week, too.  It seems her girls like the car at the grocery store as much as Adrienne's boys do!

Roy and Caitlyn and I all spoke in our ward today.  I guess we are officially members of the Centerville 8th ward now.
